Come get some dirt on your hands.
Fourth Corner Nurseries’ management and staff are committed to continual education through a free exchange of ideas and experiences. We are currently offering 3- and 6-month paid internships to advanced undergraduate and graduate students with an interest in preserving and restoring the environment. Candidates will have the opportunity to define their scope of work as it relates to our ongoing field production.
We are seeking advanced undergraduate or graduate students who are studying horticulture, crop science, agronomy, botany, restoration ecology, or other related fields. Candidates must have specific training or equivalent experience in areas related to the environment, farming, or horticulture.
The primary mission is to work with farm managers and staff to either implement new or support existing strategies to maximize crop quality, improve production, or refine farming/business practices. Initially, the intern will work directly with farm managers in order to become familiar with operations and develop a work plan; thereafter, independent work is encouraged.
The specific scope of work is to be defined by the candidate in a written proposal, submitted with the application, describing her/his interests and expectations.
A flexible 3- or 6-month appointment is available with a $10 per hour/40 hours per week stipend; housing is to be arranged by the candidate.
A complete résumé with references is required. In addition, please submit a brief proposal (maximum 1 page) articulating:
(1) your goals for the internship, including the particular type(s) of work you would like to undertake
(2) how you anticipate contributing to our on-farm skill and knowledge base through your skill sets, training, or practical knowledge
(3) your preferred dates for the internship
